This versatile singer, musician, writer, and actor began as a drummer in a Rock and Roll garage band in
Dallas Texas. His musical career went on hold with his marriage to Mary Jane Suttle and the arrival of
two ready-made children and two more from their collaboration.
Barrie has mixed a business career as a salesman and Corporate Trainer with his love of music and
theater. He has written over 100 songs, four plays and more than 200 newspaper columns and essays. He
has appeared in 30 plays, 2 movies, and dozens of television commercials.
He has also performed at numerous festivals, clubs, receptions, and business gatherings with his classical
guitar, smooth vocals, somewhat "bent" sense of humor, and weapons of mass percussion. He has added banjo and harmonica fills to his musical mix. He has hosted
July Fourth and Christmas programs in Blowing Rock for the past ten years.
In recent years, Barrie has produced and performed in COTTON PATCH GOSPEL, presented at several
North Carolina churches and developed three One-Man-Shows, A VISIT WITH BEN FRANKLIN, OH! O.
HENRY, and MARK TWAIN IN PERSON!. He is represented nationally by Arnett and Associates of
Richmond and is a performing member of North Carolina Presenters.
